How to Become a Member of First Baptist
We are always happy when people choose to become members of our church family. If you sense God's leadership to join First Baptist, we invite you to come forward during the hymn following the invitation and express that to one of the ministers. There are a number of ways to enter the membership of this church.
By Baptism When people make the decision to follow Jesus, we decide on a date soon after that when they can be baptized and thus become members of the church.
By Letter This is for people who are members of other Baptist churches and desire to be members of this church.
By Statement Sometimes people have been members of Baptist churches in the past but, for one reason or another, the record of their membership cannot be retrieved. They may join by "statement." This method of joining the church is also for persons who have experienced what Baptists call "believer's baptism by immersion" (baptism by immersion based on one's conscious decision to follow Jesus) in a church of another denomination. If your background is in a denomination other than Baptism it will be helpful for you to speak with one of our ministers or members about Baptist faith and practice so that you will be confident about your decision.
People who join our church have a New Members Orientation and those who come from other denominations attend a New Baptist Class.
