Church description:
Founded in 1838, First Baptist Church of Mount Washington continues to be a cornerstone and pillar of our community. Our vision is to be a church that glorifies God in all we do. We seek to be missional in our worship, our fellowship, our discipleship, and our outreach.
In so doing, we take our directive from Christ, who says, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matt. 28:18-20).
The Qualifications:
a. Shall be a duly ordained minister of the Gospel, and a member of a Southern Baptist Church.
b. Shall believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
c. Shall be a spiritual leader pursuant to the teachings of the New Testament.
d. Shall possess knowledge of business administration sufficient to lead and inspire those charged with the responsibility of directing and managing the church's business affairs.
e. Shall possess the wisdom to delegate responsibilities to others.
f. Shall possess the capabilities to perform the duties of the office of pastor.
g. Shall be in agreement with the Statement of Basic Beliefs of First Baptist Church of Mt. Washington and the Baptist Faith and Message (2000).
Additional Qualifications:
Minimum, Master of Divinity or similar degree from a Southern Baptist Seminary
Minimum of 5-10 years of ministry experience.
Supports local, state, national and international missions.
Experience and commitment to church growth by preaching the Gospel, building relationships within the local community, and growing partnerships with local churches, Nelson Baptist Association, Kentucky Baptist Convention, and Southern Baptist Convention, where possible.
Responsibilities:
a. Shall have general oversight of the church.
b. Shall supervise (directly or indirectly) all paid employees of the church.
c. Shall be an ex officio member to all organizations and committees of the church.
d. Shall be responsible for the faithful conduct of worship services of the church.
e. Shall perform the various duties incumbent on his office.
f. Shall be in agreement and sympathy with the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention.
g. Shall ensure all candidates for baptism have been examined as to their conversion and new members have been instructed in their duties, privileges, and responsibilities.
h. Shall ensure that persons coming into the church from another denomination have been scripturally baptized and embrace the doctrines and practices of Baptists.

Those who feel led by God to apply for this position must provide a cover letter, summarizing why they feel “called” to First Baptist Church Mount Washington, and their thoughts on “How to Grow a Southern Baptist Church in the 21st Century”.
In addition, a resume must be submitted with website links to at least three sermons and the contact information of three references who will be able to support the applicant’s outstanding qualifications, character, and commitment to serving our Savior Jesus Christ.
