Interim Youth Pastor (Part-Time)
First Baptist Church – Mt. Washington, Kentucky
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Position Summary
First Baptist Church Mt. Washington is seeking a Christ-centered, biblically grounded leader to serve as Interim Youth Pastor during a season of transition. This part-time role focuses on discipling middle and high school students, supporting families, and maintaining consistent youth ministry programming.
Primary Responsibilities
• Plan and lead weekly youth gatherings (e.g., Wednesday night service, Sunday School)
• Teach biblically sound, engaging lessons for middle and high school students
• Encourage and disciple students in their walk with Christ
• Support and equip youth ministry volunteers
• Communicate regularly with parents and church leadership
• Maintain a youth ministry calendar and work within an approved budget
• Plan select fellowship or outreach events as agreed upon with the Senior Pastor, including summer youth camp.
Qualifications
• A growing, mature follower of Jesus Christ who models personal godliness
• Affirms the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Demonstrates gifting and calling in teaching God’s Word
• Experience in student ministry preferred
• Seminary training (completed or in progress) preferred
• Organized, relational, self-motivated, and able to work collaboratively
• Comfortable using technology for communication and organization
Position Details
• Part-time interim role (hours and duration to be determined)
• Focused on youth ministry oversight (not recreation or facilities management)
• Compensation commensurate with experience

Interim Children’s Ministry Director
Reports To: Senior Pastor
Principal Function
The Interim Children’s Ministry Director provides spiritual leadership and organizational oversight for the church’s preschool and children’s ministries (cradle through 5th grade) during a transitional season. This role focuses on maintaining consistent programming, supporting families, equipping volunteers, and ensuring a safe and gospel-centered ministry environment.
Qualifications
• A committed follower of Jesus Christ who models personal godliness and biblical character
• Affirms and adheres to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000
• Demonstrates calling and giftedness in children and family ministry
• Ministry experience with children required; formal theological or education training preferred
• Organized, relational, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple responsibilities
• Comfortable using technology for communication, organization, and curriculum planning
Core Responsibilities
• Provide leadership for preschool and children’s ministry (cradle–5th grade)
• Ensure biblically sound teaching and discipleship opportunities for children and families
• Serve as a ministry presence and support to families within the church
• Encourage and equip parents in their role as primary spiritual leaders in the home
• Share the gospel with children and families as opportunities arise
• Coordinate and supervise weekly children’s ministry programming (Sunday School, Wednesday evenings and ongoing outreach opportunities as they arise)
• Plan and oversee key children’s ministry events during the interim period as agreed upon (Vacation Bible School)
• Recruit, train, and support preschool and children’s ministry volunteers
• Oversee curriculum, equipment, supplies, and classroom space
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed to maintain a safe environment for children
Interim Scope Clarification
This position focuses on maintaining and strengthening existing preschool and children’s ministries during a transition period. It does not include major long-term restructuring of ministry strategy or expansion of staffing structures beyond interim needs.
